In the present system, any cultivar that has the same number of sets of aril
chromosomes as it has non-aril chromosomes is classified as an OB, RB, or OGB.
These are commonly called halfbreds. This page presents the results of a form of linebreeding: crosses between
members of the
fertile family of halfbreds. All offspring are expected to be fully fertile as
these crosses produce
only OB, RB and OGB offspring and are thus relatively easy to evaluate.
In many cases, I've included notes about individual selections. Click on the thumbnail to view a large version. Best form, pastel colors that were much-sought-after at the time, and
the strongest plant. Good form & substance, desirable color combination, good plant.
Ranked second at final selection, but proved to be a better parent than its sib,
