STUDY IN AMETHYST (Hunt-McAllister, 1990) OGB A near-self of amethyst, with falls a bit pinker than the standards. Dorcas X Mary of Magdala. When its first offspring bloomed for me, I was most pleasantly surprised. I got the expected near-selfs in shades of pinkish-violet, but also soft yellows, deep red-violets and rust-on-yellow veining. My favorite: an almost indescribable mix of pale blue, lavender and green produced with Aril Skyline. I recommend this one highly. An elegant flower I was still struggling to name when I had an inspiring encounter with Study in Black. |
