SPECIAL GUEST (Hunt-McAllister, 1992) OGB Yellow-buff ground is overlaid with a burgundy flush to produce the appearance of a brick-red self with a 1" spot of burgundy. There was some ambiguity in garden records (it's probably Fourteen for Rachel X Jean Ralls), but its breeding behavior is that of a fully fertile halfbred – and that's what makes it "special". Has produced excellent sunfast reds, red-blacks, and related jewel tones when crossed with Merriglow, Story Theme, and Top Mention. Not one of Gene's own selections, but one of the younger seedlings I grew as "guests". |
